What materials are used to 3D print objects?

Answer

We use PLA Filament. PLA Filament is a nontoxic resin made of sugar derived from field corn and has a semisweet smell (like waffles) when heated. Created from processing any number of plant products including corn, potatoes or sugar beets, PLA is considered a more 'earth-friendly' plastic compared to petroleum-based ABS. Used primarily in food packaging and containers, PLA can be composted at commercial compost facilities.  Please note that when heated PLA may release some plastic micro-particles and it is best to exercise health and safety precautions such as proper air ventilation.
